Frontier Explorer

Marie Dorian - Escape 1814Imagine yourself as a frontier explorer, two hundred years ago. Leaving your home on the East Coast, you join an expedition to survey the American West. Much is unknown about these lands, and your job is to keep an expedition journal. You can write about the people, places and wildlife that you encounter on the journey.

<table width="150" border="0" cellpadding="5" align="right" bgcolor="#CCCC99"> <tr> <td class="small"><b>Note:</b> To hear the music and sound effects in this activity, you need to <a href="#" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/open/','','location=yes,menubar=yes,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=400,height=300')">install the Flash Player</a>. </td></tr></table>

Several artists are also on the expedition and you can use their drawings and paintings to illustrate your journal. Through your words and their artworks, people back home will learn more about the American West.

Let's begin!
