WELCOME! The NMWA Library and Archives is open to the public for browsing, reference, and research. Use of the Library is free with Museum admission and to Museum members. The public may use the Library without charge by inquiring at the front desk. Hours Winter: Monday-Friday, 1-4 pm or by appointment Summer: Monday-Friday, 1-4 pm or by appointment Closed: Weekends and holidays Librarian Melisa Nicoud (307) 732-5451 mnicoud@wildlifeart.org General Information The mission of the National Museum of Wildlife Art Library and Archives is to gather, organize, preserve, and provide access to the information resources necessary for the Museum to achieve its educational, research and service goals. The Library and Archives strives to be a comprehensive, current, state-of-the-art research facility for use by the Museum's staff, volunteers, and docents. In November 2001, the library opened its doors to members, scholars, and the community. The Library is a non-circulating collection, meaning materials may only be used in the library. Scanning and photocopying of materials is available, the latter for a nominal charge. The focus of the collection is material related to wildlife art and artists, however the scope of the collection's development and acquisition is in American and general art history, art conservation, natural history, museum science, wildlife biology, wildlife cinematography, conservation, photography, and Western Americana. The collection contains a wide variety of materials including books, journals, archival materials, letters, drawings, maps, artist biographical files, gallery and Museum files, video and laser disc recordings, compact discs, and Museum publications. |
