Go To Tour
This gallery features European and American artwork devoted to the bison, dating from the last two centuries. These images range from scientific recordings by explorer-artists and nostalgic renderings by trained professionals, to reverent likenesses crafted by American Indians. This gallery presents the historic relationship between people, wildlife and art.

NMWA Supports Polar Bear Research and Education

Richard Friese
The National Museum of Wildlife Art is proud to partner with Polar Bears International (PBI) in support of their research and education efforts to benefit the world’s polar bears.

NMWA as a sponsoring institution selected Jackson Hole High School Junior, Hillary Lavino, to serve as an "Arctic Ambassador" in PBI’s Adventure Learning Leadership Camp. Hillary spent a week on the Arctic tundra outside of Churchill, Manitoba in early October studying the bears with other teenagers from around the globe. To view her journal entries, and those of her compatriots, go to polarbearsinternational.org/student-journals/lavino.

Additionally, the NMWA, with the support of Valerie and Richard Beck, sponsors a polar bear via PBI’s bear tracker program. The bear we sponsor wears a satellite-collar so its movements can be tracked. To follow the migration of our bear and others on the Beaufort Sea, go to polarbearsinternational.org/beartracker/beaufortsea.
