About the Exhibition
National Geographic Photographs the American West opened at ten museums on October 27, 2012. The exhibits features an expansive collection of work from the National Geographic archives, documenting an American view of the West from the earliest days of photography to the most recent.
Explorers and journalists in their own right, National Geographic photographers have documented the American West for the past 120 years, telling stories of time and place, of people and wildlife, of crisis and change. This exhibition is the story of their work. With the Geographic’s enormous catalogue of western photography, the support of their knowledgeable staff, and the collaboration of ten spectacular museums across the United States under the aegis of Museums West, the National Museum of Wildlife Art has coordinated an exhibition that brings together a host of images unavailable anywhere else. This exhibit is located in the King Gallery.
