From Stone to Glass
Wildlife Sculpture in Multiple Media
June 13 2014 - April 19 2015
This exhibition pulled from the National Museum of Wildlife Art’s extensive collection looks across approximately 4500 years of artistic production to discuss the different materials artists have used over time in the creation of animal sculptures. Beginning with stone carvings from approximately 2500 bc, continuing with important bronze sculptures from the 1900s, and ending with wood and glass works created as recently as 2012, this exhibit captures a long span of time in a relatively small amount of space as it shows how different artists, using diverse materials, have crafted powerful images of animals.
