Runs with the Wolves June 12, 2012  |  By Shawn Meisl

I am woman who runs with the wolves. I’m serious! Well, it’s only one wolf but I do run with it, and sniff the fresh earth, and dig. I am also underground, flying in the air, running through the grass, lying in a nest. I am a bison, a frog, a squirrel, a hawk. And the sounds…well…they are wild.

What happens when you put the tiniest camera on wildlife? You can float, soar, root for food and yes, run with a wolf. Ever want to know what the inside of a burrow or nest feels like? Sam Easterson went there too. He’s a video naturalist and a genius with the tiny camera. Sam’s films are gifts of animal perspective on view at the Museum right now. Seven flat-screen monitors show 29 animals in motion. The result is a fresh understanding of wildlife. You will stare at the screens in wonder, watching the films again and again. They’re irresistible.
