Drawing Inspiration: American Buffalo June 20, 2013 | By Jane Lavino
I love seeing the direct results of creativity inspired from seeing original works of art in a museum setting. Jade, a young visitor to George Catlin’s American Buffalo was motivated to make a fabulous drawing “A Bison Family” (above.)
At a Collections Committee meeting this week, we had a great conversation about Fine Art and the act of creating something purely for aesthetic and experiential benefits. It is challenging to adequately describe the revelations and inspiration that art can bestow. Visit our Museum and spend time with Catlin’s “American Buffalo,” Todd McGrain’s “Lost Birds,” or Andy Warhol’s “Amazing Animals.” You will tap into some awesome inspiration. Thanks, Jade, for reminding us of the power of art and sharing your beautiful bison family with us!
