Mix’d Media: Wonder Cabinet
Thursday, November 14
The winter Mix’d Media season begins next week! Visitors will sculpt clay insects, create butterfly shadow boxes, savor artisan chocolates, dance to local DJ VerT-One, and imbibe in delicious food and drink. Wonder Cabinetpresents a fresh view of the traditional Cabinet of Curiosities, also called a Cabinet of Wonder, or Wunderkammer. A precursor to the modern museum, such personal collections of objects date back to the Renaissance. The Cabinet was a personal expression of collecting, cataloging and arranging, and included natural objects, art objects, anthropological specimens, and other oddities.
This will be the third installment of a “community” focused exhibit curated by Bronwyn Minton, Assistant Curator of Art. Wonder Cabinet will include objects from the Museum’s collection, items on loan from select community members, and art commissioned for the exhibit.
The Wonder Cabinet Mix’d Media invites guests to participate in the collection by exploring its contents and making objects for a personal cabinet. Don’t miss it!
Mix’d Media programs are an exciting opportunity to explore temporary exhibits through thematic music, food, drink, and art activities after hours.
The next program will be Thursday, December 12 and will celebrate our Wild Wonders of Europe exhibition.
Mix’d Media programs are generously sponsored by First Interstate Bank, Home Health for Pets, and Spring Creek Ranch.
