Wonder Cabinet, New Exhibit Opens this Week November 14, 2013 | By Jane Lavino
In celebration of the weird and the wonderful, our Sneak Peek program this week features the storytelling talents of a trio of community members. Each has loaned oddities from their personal collections to the exhibit. Mark Nowlin’s ominous looking rattle snake tails evoke happy memories of his grandmother’s farm in Nebraska where he spent summers as a child. Ed Lavino’s ornately carved coconut husk container promts an ancient mariner’s tale transporting us on a whaling ship to the south seas circa 1820. Lisa Samford’s Wyoming Agate inspires reflection regarding the nature of agates, their geologic history and their purported powers of protection. Come enjoy the wonders of this fascinating exhibit.
