Finishing Final Sculpture
When it comes out of the ceramic mold, the bronze is still not finished.

The remains of the ceramic investment are sandblasted off.

The sprues have to be cut off with a welding torch. If the sculpture was cast in separate pieces, they must be welded together.

Then all the seams where the mold joined need to be trimmed and smoothed, and surface details restored to blend with the rest of the sculptor's original shape.

Finally, the bronze may have a colored patina applied by painting it with different chemical solutions and heating the bronze to oxidize the surface.

The journey from clay to bronze is complete: The sculptor and foundry artisans have created an enduring work of art.
