The $4\,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a local High School Senior who plans to study art at the college level. Thank you for your support! \nAbout the artist:\nAside from occasional workshops\, Rachel is largely self-taught. She studied Art History and Anthropology\, and her work is greatly influenced by Anthropological perspectives – Postmodernism\, particularly the idea of binary oppositions (beauty/ugliness\, light/dark\, warm/cool\, smooth/rough\, shiny/dull)\, is a recurring theme in her art. The beauty in seasonal contrasts inspires Rachel; her paintings are often tonal or monochromatic. Mountainous landscapes with trees\, clouds\, snow\, and water are her favorite subjects. \nAchieving a mental “flow state” is the most important part of her creative process; she believes flow to be a cause of success\, in the end\, results in her paintings and a key to finding happiness. Painting and downhill skiing are the only two activities that thrust her into a flow state. Rachel is originally from Rockford\, Michigan\, and she has called Wyoming “home” since 2011.

SUMMARY:2023 International Fly Fishing Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:A NIGHT OF FLY FISHING AND CONSERVATION\nSold out venues across the United States and around the world has been the reaction to the 2023 International Fly Fishing Film Festival (IF4). This prestigious event is scheduled to come to Jackson Hole on March 9th hosted at the National Museum of Wildlife Art from 6 to 9 p.m. $20 tickets purchased online here. \nThe Festival includes nine selected top short films showing a diversity of fishing experiences and exotic places. Film subjects include a visit to a remote Mexican atoll. Another encounters a remarkable damselfly hatch. The search for the big predatory fish\, the giant trevally (GT’s) is a film subject. An additional film invites you to fish for four unique bass species in Appalachia. Also view an epic trip into an undiscovered portion of the Amazon to ply for the golden dorado. Enjoy an additional heart warming story of a dog who loves salmon fishing. \n \nOne of the highlighted film spawns locally. It focuses on the 100 year guiding and ranching legacy of the Turner family’s five generations at the Triangle X Ranch. It depicts how wild places\, its mountains and rivers\, define who we are. It is the story of a family blessed to live\, work and share with others the Snake River\, one of the most spectacular river corridors anywhere in the world. It shows how the Turner tradition instills a passion to protect the “wild” for future generations to come. The film portrays the career of a local guide and native\, John F\, Turner\, and his remarkable career in wildlife and land protection. \nThe March event is being hosted by the National Museum of Wildlife Art\, Jackson Hole’s Chapter of Trout Unlimited\, and the University of Wyoming’s Haub School of the Environment and Natural Resources. Proceeds from the night will go to fund continuing fishery restoration projects of TU\, and also to a scholarship fund at the University for students who wish to pursue a career of being an outdoor guide with a strong emphasis in conservation. Students will be enrolled in the University’s WORTH program (Wyoming’s Outdoor Recreation\, Travel and Hospitality.) \nEvent attendees will enjoy a cash bar and whiskey tasting of Lost Whiskey company. \n \n
