Mix'd Media: "National Geographic Photo Ark: Photographs by Joel Sartore"

Jun 28, 2017   |    6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Free to the public. Members receive one FREE drink.

June’s Mix’d Media will feature the “National Geographic Photo Ark: Photographs by Joel Sartore” exhibition. Joel Sartore will be in attendance, and will give a KeyNote presentation at 6p.m., followed by an after-party in Johnston Hall. KeyNote presentation by Sartore at 6 pm, followed by “after-party” in Johnston Hall.

To read more about Sartore, check out his National Geography Bio.

The creative activities during the after-party both revolve around photography, with two photography-related projects for all guests to enjoy.

One photography station will offer the guests an opportunity to participate in National Geogrpahic’s Geo social media campaign #savetogether. Guests do this by taking selfies in front of banners featuring different species from the Photo Ark exhibtion. Every image posted to social media with that hashtag appears on National Geographic’s #savetogether page and Instagram. Include #WildlifeArtJH and we’ll repost our favorites!

The second photography station offers guests the opportunity to learn a few “tricks of the trade” from Sartore about taking portraits using their cell phones, or a Museum Polaroid. Guests can experience what it’s like to be photographed in a studio and pose for a portrait taken by a Museum professional.

Entertainment is provided by DJs Jefe and Mr. Whipple, and food and beverages will be available for purchase from Palate.

Pre-signed Photo Ark books will be available for purchase in the Museum Shop.

    What People Are Saying

We came here in the recommendation of a worker at Yellowstone. The museum itself is beautiful, nestled into the hills outside Jackson. The art is stunning. Some feel almost like photographs. Highly recommended.
