National Museum of Wildlife Art to Host Authors of “The Land We Share”
April 22, 2024Jackson, WY: The National Museum of Wildlife Art invites visitors to an evening with the authors of The Land We Share, the 2024 National Publication of the Year by the Public Lands Alliance. The event will be held in the Cook Auditorium at the Museum on Thursday, April 25, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.).
In partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management, Alaska Geographic published this remarkable collection of over 60 outdoor essays called The Land We Share. These essays are written by Steve Meyer, a lifelong hunter, and Christine Cunningham, a lifelong Alaskan who embraced hunting later in life. Accompanied by a family of bird dogs, the two authors delve into how hunting on public lands nurtures the human spirit, sustains physical health, and deepens appreciation for the natural world. Although most stories are set in Alaska and the Dakotas, their messages and themes resonate across the nation, appealing to both hunting advocates and those with a profound connection to the outdoors.
Meyer and Cunningham will take attendees on a visual journey through the mountains and glacial valleys of their home state, Alaska. Along the way, they will discuss how ethical hunting supports and connects them and many others to America’s public lands, people, and wildlife.
