Free Tours
All youth ed tours, Pre-K through Grade 12, are offered free of charge. We are always eager to discuss the educational goals of your particular class, and customize our offerings whenever possible. We ask that teachers schedule at least two weeks in advance. We look forward to working with you and your students! Free Membership
As a token of our appreciation for your dedication to education and inspiring the next generation, the National Museum of Wildlife Art is pleased to invite educators to enjoy the benefits of membership at no cost. All local educators qualify for a complimentary Individual membership, which provides unlimited free admission throughout the year, discounts in the Museum Shop and Palate Restaurant, and a subscription to all Museum publications.

School Programs
We’re excited to offer programs for grades K-12.
School-aged children and accompanying adults are admitted free of charge when participating in our school education programs unless otherwise noted in the course description. Each Teton County educator participating in our program will receive a complimentary museum membership.
Programs by Grade Level
- Animal Tracks

Students will match four animals from the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem with
images of their tracks. They will then use their fingerprints to create a tracking story of their own.Grades: Pre-K-K | Length: 30 Minutes
- Weather Watching
-
Students use five paintings to explore the connections between weather, color, and emotions, then create their own weather scene using drawings and cotton balls.
Grades: K-2 | Length: 45 Minutes
- Bison and Plains Peoples
-
Students will use works from the collection to explore the bison’s relationship with Indigenous tribes of the Great Plains: from an essential cultural resource, to something lost, to something regained. They will then create a piece of artwork reflecting on the importance of the bison.
Grades: 2-4 | Length: 1 Hour
- Animal Adaptations
-
Students will use three or more paintings to explore what adaptations are and how they help animals survive. Then, design a creature that is adapted to a special environment.
Grades: 3-5 | Length: 1 Hour
- Food Chains

Students will explore food chains, their various components, and their depiction in art. They’ll create a story to describe the food chain they see in a painting, then draw their own.
Grades: 3-5 | Length: 45 Minutes
- Conservation

Students will learn the historical impact of art on the conservation of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem before exploring conservation-related works in small groups. Then, they’ll design a piece of conservation artwork.
Grades: 6-8 | Length: 1 Hour
- The Art of Seeing

Students will practice close observation and interrogate cultural preferences towards charismatic megafauna. Then, they’ll watch an episode of our Bisoncast series to further investigate themes of wildlife beauty and value. Finally, they’ll create a piece of art about something that is often overlooked.
Grades: 9-12 | Length: 1.5 Hours
