In 1991, Doris Clymer and the Clymer family donated the contents of John Clymer’s Jackson Hole studio to the Museum. This installation of the John Clymer studio includes his reference books, studio props, costumes, and approximately 200 artifacts collected during his lifetime.

This recreation of John Clymer's studio includes his art supplies as well as the many artifacts he collected during his lifetime.
Clymer's studio consisted of hundreds of reference books, studio props, and costumes.
John Clymer began as an illustrator and later switched his focus to painting historical scenes and events that occurred on the American frontier.
John Clymer said that he always tried to take the viewer of his art “to an actual place and make them feel that they were really there.”

Bison-tennial: From Colonization to Rematriation

Bison-tennial explores the profound influence of bison on the history, cultures, and landscapes of the North American West, especially within the United States. The exhibition traces their story from pre-colonial times through westward expansion, the near-destruction of the herds, and today’s growing restoration and rematriation efforts.
