Image & Film Permissions

Images from the collection of The National Museum of Wildlife Art are available for research and publication. Permission for use of the National Museum of Wildlife Art’s images can be requested through the Registrar. All requests for images and permissions to publish should be submitted in writing to the Registrar.

Reproduction Application

Filming in or around the National Museum of Wildlife Art is possible, depending on the purpose of the film, and requested schedule. Please contact the Registrar at least 30 days prior to your requested film date for more details, and to complete the required paperwork. A contract and fee (payable in advance) is required.

Museum Photography Guidelines

Visitors are welcome to take photographs of the Museum and its collection and grounds, using hand-held still or video cameras only, under the following guidelines:

  • Use of flash lighting or external photo equipment including tripods in the galleries is prohibited. Lights and photography equipment may damage some artwork;
  • Visitors may not photograph or film temporary exhibitions or borrowed works of art. Conditions attached to the contract of loaned items may prohibit the use of photography;
  • There are many works in the galleries and on the grounds for which the National Museum of Wildlife Art does not hold the copyright, therefore the Museum does not have the right to permit reproductions in any form without permission of a third party. Photographers and videographers are responsible for following applicable copyright law(s);
  • Photographs and film are for personal use only and cannot be published, sold, reproduced, transferred, distributed, or otherwise used for commercial purposes.

Reproduction Rights

To obtain permission to reproduce images for commercial purposes of the buildings, grounds, or works of art in the National Museum of Wildlife Art collection, or to obtain Museum generated images of the above, please contact the Registrar. The reproduction request can be obtained online.

Media and Commercial Photography Shoots

Members of the media may photograph or film within designated areas of the National Museum of Wildlife Art and its grounds for the purpose of news coverage. Given permission, commercial photographers may use the National Museum of Wildlife Art galleries and grounds as settings for photography shoots. All Press and Commercial photography requests must be made prior to arrival. The National Museum of Wildlife Art reserves the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to withhold and/or withdraw permission to photograph on its premises or to reproduce photographs of objects in its collection. Photographers and the subjects of the photographs are not allowed to touch or handle any artworks.
